Bio

In 2017, Micaela graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz with a B.S. in Human Biology. In 2020, she earned a Master of Science in Global Health at the University of California San Francisco. Her passion for serving the Latinx community led to her with Dr. Laura Fejerman, her capstone mentor, who developed a culturally-tailored hereditary breast cancer education program for Spanish-speaking Latinas. Micaela’s capstone project aimed to enhance the education program by assessing improvement in the promotores’ understanding of hereditary breast cancer to maximize information dissemination among the Latinx community. Micaela is passionate about preventative medicine and mitigating health disparities. Micaela is currently applying for medical school and is working as a research assistant for a collaborative project between UCSF and the San Francisco Department of Public Health. In her free time, she serves her community through the Mobile Medical Clinic, spends time with her family, enjoys paddleboarding, and loves snowboarding
