Bio

Alejandra is a first-generation college graduate who earned her degree at San Francisco State University. She graduated with a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Alejandra's dream is to become a physician who works with underserved communities and conducts health disparity research. Alejandra originally joined the Fejerman lab as a junior in college in 2015. Her first project was a Genome-Wide Association study of exogenous and endogenous glucocorticoid and estrogen levels in Latina Women. Following her graduation, Alejandra returned to the Fejerman lab, where she helped create hereditary breast cancer educational materials. Today, Alejandra is a research associate at the Radiation Biophysics lab at NASA, where she studies the molecular effects of ionizing radiation on DNA. When Alejandra is not busy in the lab, she enjoys spending time with her family, her cat noodles, and starting new "Do it yourself projects".
